You might not be the EA to the CEO but you’re still in direct proximity with an exec! 👀

#21: I’m really grateful

These comics are based on true stories submitted by EAs retold in a fun, anonymous way.

For convenience, we also post these to LinkedIn, Instagram, and Facebook.

Do you have an outrageous or funny story you’d like to get off your chest? Just reply directly to this email to share. I promise anonymity! 🤫

The former dean of Harvard Business School wrote this piece about EAs and a CCing my EA reader wanted to pass it along.

Gift ideas from 24 readers

2 weeks ago, Jessica asked for client gift ideas that are unique, useful, and budget-friendly (no standard swag). Below are the highlights from the 24 of you wrote in (thank you!!!). The full list, in everyone's own words, is linked at the end.

Let them pick. Goody (ongoody.com) lets you set an amount and the recipient chooses; two readers use it. AXOMO (a swag platform) and SugarWish were each suggested once.

Local & consumable. Hampers from Fortnum & Mason, Omaha Steaks and eCreamery, a fresh truffle box, and Rent Mother Nature. One reader does a custom Lego set of their office building (~$45/person); another assembles a box of local goods. Another reader gifted a box of diffuser fragrances.

Useful. Leatherology luggage tags (~$45), Smart Mugs, the Plane Pocket, and logo AirPods (under $200).

With meaning. A donation to the client's charity in their name, gifts made by people with disabilities, or — on a nonprofit budget — a signed sports ball. One reader gifts leadership books chosen by their execs.

Process, not a product. One Chief of Staff's tip: fix the annual scramble by deciding early and locking in the order.

Thank you again to everyone who replied!!! 🙇‍♂️

For a refresher on past Tech Tips without digging through your emails, they’re all available in a single post right here (doing my best to update once a month).

Thank you for reading!
