“This is one of the most thoughtful and comprehensive EA reports seen in a while. The mix of hard numbers (workload, pay, industries, cities) and short-answer stories about soft skills, proudest moments, and emotional labor paints a very human picture of the role. Kudos to you!”

“This report should be mandatory reading for executives and anyone who does hiring. Amazing work, Johnny Wu!”

“Congrats on publishing the 2026 report, Johnny. Four months of research and input from 600 EAs is a serious piece of work. The sections on pay trends, workload pressure, and AI adoption are timely and practical.

I also liked the balance. The report shows how EAs are using AI tools to sharpen day to day delivery and work smarter. It also reinforces what makes an EA a powerhouse in the first place. Soft skills. Reading the room. Picking up on body language and what is not being said. High emotional intelligence. Anticipating needs before they land. That is the difference between support and true partnership. Thank you for doing the work, and for giving the profession proper visibility.”

1 Tech Tip

Drop-in ChatGPT Office Hours for EAs! (Jan 28, 4–6pm ET)

On January 28 from 4–6pm ET, I’m hosting drop-in AI office hours just for EAs.

The idea is simple: you bring one tedious task you’re dealing with, and I’ll show you how I’d knock it out using ChatGPT, live. We’ll work on your actual task so you can copy/paste and use it immediately.

This is very beginner-friendly, and there won’t be any “imagine you’re an operations expert” type of prompts.

It’s first-come, first-served and you can come and go at any point during the window. You’re also welcome to drop in just to observe and learn from others too.

If you’re interested in attending, please RSVP here: luma.com/y7jkz4lv

For a refresher on past Tech Tips without digging through your emails, they’re all available in a single post right here.

Thank you for reading!

I’m happy to share that the design for the special edition comic booklet (survey completers were randomly selected to receive a limited hard copy of a BCCing my EA booklet) is complete!

It’s currently getting printed and after it passes quality control, I’ll finally be able to start shipping them out.

Really appreciate your patience all this time! 🙏

I’ll catch you next Thursday~
