What I’ve learned from working in multiple vastly different roles is that your overall work experience is effectively decided by one person: the person in charge of you.
This is of course 10x fold for Executive Assistants because you have wayyy more face-to-face time with your exec than any other employee does.
So yeah, executives absolutely play a humongous role in shaping any EA role’s day-to-day experience. 💼

If you’re an ex-Twitter user and have been disheartened by the declined state of X, you should totally check out Threads. It honestly feels like what Twitter was supposed to be. 🐦

I’m genuinely so optimistic for the EA profession finally garnering the serious respect it deserves this year, and with it will come an expectation for larger budgets to serve their needs.
It might sound crazy now, but I really don’t think it’s ridiculous for Executive Assistants to expect to receive even more perks than engineers do by the end of this decade.
Only time will tell though. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Bonus post
I think I’m gonna try to create this as a fun personal project over the summer. ☀️
If this sparked any ideas, please drop them as comments on my LinkedIn post!

They literally don’t even know what to do with their time… 🤦♂️
1 Tech Tip
Multiple highlights at once in Google Docs!
I discovered this today and am weirdly excited about it. Long story short, did you know you can select non-adjacent bits of text and format them all at once??
For example, check out this Google Doc of mine where I have totally separate lines highlighted!

How to do it
Mac: Hold ⌘ (Command) while you click-and-drag to select the first phrase… keep holding ⌘ and drag over a second (or third) phrase.
Windows/ChromeOS: Hold Ctrl while you click-and-drag each separate selection.
Now any action you take (Highlight, Bold, Change color, Add link) applies to all selected spots at once.
It’s especially great for cleaning up repeated headings, fixing typos in multiple places, or highlighting key takeaways across a doc.
Disclaimer: I’ve only seen this work in Google Docs and it doesn’t seem like it’s supported in most other apps. 😕
For a refresher on past Tech Tips without digging through your emails, they’re all available in a single post right here (updated once a month).
P.S. Btw the AI office hours yesterday went super well so we’re planning recurring time slots in the coming weeks, stay tuned for those!
Thank you for reading!
I just got back to NYC Tuesday night so it’s been quite an effort to catch up on my inboxes… this is why I don’t take vacations!
That said, it was suuuper nice catching up with friends and revisiting old teachers and coaches who greatly impacted me growing up.
I also finally appreciated Berkeley for all the things I grew up taking for granted. It really is a wonderful place and I can totally see myself retiring there.
For now though, I’m definitely happy to be back in the city! 🗽
I’ll catch you next Thursday~
