3 posts you might’ve missed

This post blew up this week and for good reason — it’s pretty upsetting to hear that Nike’s trying to hire Malinda at the same wage they paid her when she was hired 12 years ago… 😠

#2

What’s the most outrageous situation (that you’re comfortable sharing privately) you’ve been privy to thanks to your role? 🤫

#3

Last week, Paul asked CCing my EA readers for help dealing with difficult stakeholders who aren’t great at responding to time-sensitive issues… and 11 of y’all delivered! 🥳

"A huge thank you for the stakeholder response tips! I'm happy to share that I've put some into practice already, with great results! Very grateful for this wonderful community."

My 3 favorite actionable tips from the responses were:

  1. Confirm rather than ask

Say: “I’ll move forward with X unless I hear otherwise by [date/time].” This prompts quick responses or lets you proceed without being blocked.

  2. Give clear choices with a deadline

Use multiple-choice or yes/no questions instead of open-ended ones, and always include a firm deadline.

  3. Use attention-grabbing subject lines

Add tags like “ACTION REQUIRED,” “RESPONSE NEEDED BY [DATE],” or “REVIEW” to your subject lines to signal urgency.

Definitely take 3 min to check out this Google Doc compilation of all the great suggestions though!

1 Tech Tip

Using ChatGPT for image generation

Earlier this week, Open AI released their update for ChatGPT’s image generation feature.

By far the most prevalent use so far has been transforming pictures into Studio Ghibli’s art style like I did with my cat, Apex. 😼

However, there are WAY more practical uses for this update because:

  • Text rendering is now reliable

    • This opens the door for creating mockups and posters that you can actually use

  • Fine control over details

    • You can iterate and refine on images instead of rewriting the entire prompt

This means you can actually create assets like illustrated metaphors for slide decks, graphs and charts for data visualization, or even posters and thumbnails for social media, without weird sloppy-looking text.

For example, here’s an image I generated to help illustrate the exact points I made right above.

If you want to try out ChatGPT’s image generation feature for yourself, just hit the “…” and select “Create image” before you submit your next prompt.

P.S. Please share any fun or helpful images you end up creating with ChatGPT — I just might feature it in the next CCing my EA issue. The only rule is it has to be related to Executive Assistants somehow. Looking forward to seeing what you create!

I’ll go first…
