"The problem with the Met Gala"

Let’s Take This Offline Kickoff 🍵

The first batch of EA matches went out this week!

If you filled out the 7-question form before April 16th, you should have been cc’d on an intro email with the subject line “You’ve Got an EA Match! | Let's Take This Offline 🍵”. If it’s not in your inbox (or spam), just reply here and I’ll make sure you get it.

If you submitted your forms after April 16th, your match is coming later this week. Since this round pulls from a smaller pool, the fit might not be quite as strong as the earlier batch, but I’ll still do my best to make meaningful connections.

With that said, I’ll be sending out new matches each month, so even if this round’s not a hit, you’ll be back in the larger pool soon.

As always, feel free to reply if you have any questions, or if you'd like to opt out of future matches, just let me know.

Fantastic tips to quickly establish a ton of trust from your exec at a new role. 💡

#2

The Met Gala this year is on Monday, May 5th.

Unfortunately, I couldn’t make it to the red carpet this year because I’ll be at the much more interesting EA Ignite conference in Louisville instead. 🏇

Absolutely loving the iceberg graphic that Elizabeth put together here! 🧊

Does anything in particular stick out to you?

Bonus

Since our irl Admin Day event went so we’ll, we plan to put on more in-person events moving forward! Speaking of which…

If you or you EA friends happen to be in Louisville next Wednesday for whatever reason, come join us for some fun boozy axe-throwing! 🪓

Honestly, alcohol and axes might not seem like the smartest combination, but some quick research suggests OVRDRIVE has ensured it’s a totally safe activity.

And if you aren’t interested in drinks or axe-throwing, there will be racing simulators, a rage room, food, and of course other lovely EAs who understand the joys and chaos of supporting busy executives. :)

1 Tech Tip

Calendar views and Find shortcuts

Our recent tech tips have been rather AI-heavy, so this week we’re taking a break from that to highlight a couple simple but seriously underrated keyboard shortcuts.

The first group of shortcuts comes from Shelley Trask at Udemy and it works in both Google Calendar and Vimcal EA!

Did you know that you can just press “D” in your calendar to switch it to day view? Pressing “W” switches to week view, and “M” brings up month view. These quick toggles make jumping between views super easy when you’re scanning availability or juggling meetings.

While these work great in both Google Calendar and Vimcal EA, Outlook makes things a bit more… involved. 😕

To switch views in Outlook, you’ll need to use:

  • Shift + Alt + 1 for day view

  • Shift + Alt + 2 for work week view

  • Shift + Alt + 3 for full week view

  • Shift + Alt + 4 for month view

On another note, are you using ⌘ + F (on Mac) or Ctrl + F (on Windows)? If not, you really HAVE to start using this “Find” shortcut immediately. It lets you instantly search for specific words or phrases within any document or webpage.

For example, if I wanted to search for every mention of “ChatGPT” in our 2025 State of AI in the Executive Assistant Industry report, I’d simply press ⌘ + F, type “ChatGPT” into the search box, and it’ll highlight every instance of “ChatGPT” as well as count how many times it was mentioned.

These shortcuts might seem small, but using them regularly can save you serious time and mental energy. Give them a try this week and let me know if there are other time-savers you swear by, I’d love to share them in an upcoming tip!

If you ever need a refresher on past Tech Tips without digging through your emails, they’re all available in a single post right here.

Thank you for reading!

On the off chance you know any EAs based in Louisville, please let them know about our free irl event next Wednesday!

I’ll see you next Thursday~
